Over 1,000 organizations worldwide have subscribed to MedDRA. If yours has not, you may be interested in the demo version of the MedDRA terminology provided below. This demo version is provided in a browser format. The browser displays a subset of the MedDRA terminology, showing all 26 System Organ Classes (the broadest level of the terminology) and a sample of terms from the subordinate levels.

In addition to the overall concept of the MedDRA hierarchy, the selection of terms illustrates the following concepts of MedDRA:

• multiaxiality (e.g., the Preferred Term Developmental glaucoma)
• non-current terms (e.g., the Lowest Level Term Vitreous anomalies, congenital)
• single-axial System Organ Classes (e.g., Investigations)
• Standardised MedDRA Queries (e.g., Malignancies (SMQ))

You can download the installation file for the demo version here. The file contains a Browser installation file (setup.exe) and 12 ASCII text files (.asc files).

After downloading the file, extract and launch setup.exe and follow the installation instructions. Then launch the MedDRA Browser application. Follow the instructions to Upload ASCII Files. You can browse through the terminology by double-clicking a term; or you can search for a term by selecting Tools/Search from the menu bar.
